Marketing

Why is it that people still use older algorithms when new and improved methods are available? It is not simply that the pipelines are written for the old programs, because the newer ones tend to convert input and output quite nicely. So there is not really any technical issue here- instead the question is one of marketing.

Scientists do not flock to the idea of marketing, but rather shy away from it. This is counterproductive. We need to be able to sell what we do, whether an idea, a program or a product.
